TACOMA, Washington – Four players scored multiple goals, as the Puget Sound lacrosse team defeated Dallas, 16-11, to open the 2017 season on Saturday afternoon.
The Loggers took control of the game early, going up 4-0 in the first 10 minutes of the game. However, Dallas (0-1), was able to rally, and tied the game, 8-8, going into halftime.
Puget Sound came out of the break confident, scoring three consecutive goals to regain the lead, 11-8. With a 13-11 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining, the Loggers scored three unanswered goals to open their lead to 16-11. They controlled possession of the ball in the final minutes of the game to open the season with a win.
Goalkeeper Charlotte Donnelly (1-0) made three saves in her first career start. Izzy Amaya recorded eight draw controls, while also picking up two ground balls and causing a turnover. Kathryn Hart led the Loggers with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers. Frazer was a force, adding an assist, three ground balls, four draw controls, and three caused turnovers in addition to her four goals.
The Loggers will next host Alma, on Tuesday, February 28. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
