TACOMA, Washington – Meghan Bacher scored six goals, as the Puget Sound lacrosse team defeated Linfield, 12-6, on Saturday afternoon.
Linfield (1-10, 0-4 NWC) opened the game with two consecutive goals, but the Loggers responded with four unanswered goals in the half. Puget Sound took a 4-2 lead into the break.
Coming out of halftime, the two teams exchanged goals, but the Loggers then went on a 6-0 run to take control of the game at 11-3. The Wildcats scored three of the final four goals, but Puget Sound comfortably defeated Linfield for the second time this season.
Heineke led the Loggers with six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Elena Becker scooped five ground balls and caused three turnovers. Walker led the squad with three draw controls. Ally Benko (4-4) earned the victory in goal, making nine saves.
The Loggers will next host Southwestern in a non-conference match-up. The game, on Sunday, April 9, will be Senior Day for Puget Sound. The five senior Loggers will be honored before the game, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
