Bacher, Nichols notch multiple goals, lacrosse falls to Whitman

TACOMA, Washington – Meghan Bacher and Hannah Nichols each scored two goals, but the Puget Sound lacrosse team fell to Whitman, 16-5, on Friday afternoon.

Leading the Loggers (5-6, 2-4 NWC) were Bacher and Nichols, who each notched two goals in the game. It was Nichols second multi-goal game of the season. Ella Frazer also scored for Puget Sound, while Ali Walker had an assist.

Whitman (8-6, 5-2 NWC) scored the first three goals of the game before Bacher got the home team on the board. The Blues led, 7-3, at halftime. Coming out of the break, Nichols scored her first goal of the game to narrow the score to three goals, but Whitman extended the lead back out to five. After Nichols scored again, the Blues scored seven unanswered to take control of the game.

Marcella Heineke led the Loggers with five groundballs, while Ali Walker and Elizabeth Ward each had two draw controls. Elena Becker had caused a team-high six turnovers. Ally Benko (4-6) took the loss between the pipes, making seven saves in 60 minutes.

The Loggers will next travel to Pacific on Saturday, April 22. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
