Loggers head to Texas for two games at Southwestern

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound lacrosse team heads to Georgetown, Texas, for a pair of games in the Lone Star State. The Loggers play at Southwestern (Tex.), Thursday, March 15, at 4 p.m. Puget Sound then takes on Sewanee, Saturday, March 17, at 12 p.m., in a game hosted by Southwestern.

Rivalry win

The Loggers' first win of the season was on the road against rival Pacific, March 10. Izzy Amaya and Ella Frazer both scored three goals during the Loggers' 11-10 victory.

 

Saves the day

Ally Benko ranks second in the Northwest Conference in saves with 46. Her season-high mark is 16 saves in the season-opener at George Fox.

 

Around the league

George Fox sits atop the NWC standings with a 3-0 conference record, and Linfield follows at 2-1. Whitman is 1-1 in the NWC, Puget Sound is 1-2, and Pacific is 0-3.

 

Scouting Southwestern (2-6, 0-0 SCAC)

The Pirates enter this week having lost four of their last five games. Ronni Winter leads the team in scoring with 24 goals, and Grace Maynard follows with 21. Southwestern allows 14.63 goals per game.

 

Scouting Sewanee (6-3, 2-1 SAA)

The Tigers won six consecutive games early in the season, but they lost their two most recent contests. Mary Kate Myers has a team-high 21 goals, while Molly Elkins and Grace Zechman both have 12 assists.
