Logger lacrosse enters 2019 with new leadership, expanded NWC

TACOMA, Washington – First-year head coach Liz Daly and a couple of All-Northwest Conference Loggers are ready for growing NWC competition in 2019. Daly was named Puget Sound's head coach in August 2018 (click HERE to learn more).

Sophomores Deryn Gersoff and Sarah Brust were named to the All-NWC Second Team during their rookie seasons with Puget Sound in 2018. In addition to the two standout second-year underclassmen, Puget Sound is backed by several seniors: Sara Burke, Rebecca Simon, Hannah Nichols, Maya Ullrich-Carter, Alli Walker, and Rebecca Heald.

The NWC adds first-year programs Whitworth and Willamette into the mix this spring. The Pirates and Bearcats will challenge a Logger squad that aims to improve upon last year's 2-9 overall record.

Walker is Puget Sound's top returning scorer in 2019. She tied for the team-lead in scoring with 15 goals last spring. Walker also ranked second on the team for both draw controls (29) and shots on goal (29).

In all, Puget Sound returns six Loggers who started all 11 games in 2018: Ally Benko, Brust, Gersoff, Nichols, Rebecca Simon, and Walker.

The 2019 season features 15 games, including 12 conference contests. Puget Sound begins the campaign at home with a NWC game against George Fox, March 9. Puget Sound has just one day to rest before hosting a non-conference game against Ohio Wesleyan, March 11.

The Loggers travel to Colorado later in March, where they will play against Johnson & Wales (March 19) in Denver, and then take on Marian (March 20) in Aurora.
