Loggers set for season's first two home games this weekend

TACOMA, Washington – After starting the 2017 season with a two-game split in Southern California, the Puget Sound women's soccer team makes its home debut on East Field on Friday, Sept. 8, against Eastern Oregon. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Loggers then host Evergreen State on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 12 p.m.

Even start

The Loggers began the season with a 2-0 loss at Pomona-Pitzer (Sept. 1), but bounced back with a 2-0 win at Claremont-M-S (Sept. 3). Tayla MacPherson and Gabbie Berg both scored in the win over the Athenas, while Jamie Lange recorded 15 saves between the two matches.

 

Around the Northwest Conference

Willamette is off to a 2-0 this season, while Lewis & Clark is 1-0-1, followed by George Fox at 2-1. Linfield, Pacific Lutheran, and Puget Sound all carry a 1-1 record into the weekend. Pacific (0-1-1), Whitman (0-2), and Whitworth (0-2) are still searching for their first wins of the season.

 

Scouting Eastern Oreogon (1-1)

Eastern Oregon began its season with a 1-0 upset over No. 3 Vanguard (NAIA). Morgan Farrington's first-career goal stood as the game-winner, and Cyndi Cottrell tallied six saves in goal. The following day, the Mountaineers lost to Hope International, 1-0.

 

Scouting Evergreen State (0-1-1)

The Geoducks will have played three Northwest Conference teams before their matchup at Puget Sound. Evergreen State tied Pacific, 1-1, with Delaney Rice scoring the Geoducks' lone goal, Sept. 1. Linfield blanked Evergreen State, 1-0, the following day. Pacific Lutheran hosts Evergreeen State on Friday, Sept. 8.
