Women's soccer set for two home games this weekend

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team returns home to take on Willamette Saturday, Oct. 7, at 12 p.m., and Pacific Sunday, Oct. 8, at 12 p.m.

Gaining acknowledgment

After halting Whitworth's six-game win streak with a 2-2 tie, and defeating Whitman, 3-1, the Loggers re-entered the regional rankings at No.10 this week. Sophomore Tayla MacPherson earned individual recognition this week, receiving Logger of the Week after recording a goal and two assists in last weekend's games.  

 

Attack on point

Puget Sound has scored 14 goals in 10 games, five of which were in last weekend's matchups at Whitworth and Whitman. Three different Loggers scored within the first 29 minutes of the game at Whitman.

 

Scouting Willamette (7-2-1, 4-2 NWC)

The Bearcats are coming off a weekend of wins vs. Pacific and Lewis & Clark, before facing the Loggers this weekend. After recording six goals in last weekend's wins, Willamette has moved from No.10 in the West Region to No. 8. Senior Emmy Manset also earned recognition as the NWC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week after netting three of Willamette's six goals.  Manset is in a three-way tie for first for most goals in the NWC at five.

 

Scouting Pacific (0-8-2, 0-5-1 NWC)

Pacific has suffered three consecutive losses at the hands of Linfield, Willamette, and Whitworth. The Boxers earned their only NWC point after a 2-2 draw against Whitman on Sept. 23. Kayla Mizo and Kira Negrete lead the attack in conference play with one goal each.
