SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Competing against the United Soccer Coaches' No. 12 ranked team in the country, the Puget Sound women's soccer team took Trinity (Tex.) to double overtime. However, the Tigers netted the game's lone goal in the 102nd minute to top the Loggers, 1-0.
Puget Sound (0-2) goalie Jamie Lange kept the Loggers in the game by tallying 13 saves for the second consevutive game. Last year, Lange led the Northwest Conference with 99 saves en route to being named the NWC Defensive Player of the Year.
Erin Brosnan neary gave Puget Sound an early 1-0 edge when her shot in the 19th minute hit the crossbar. Kendra Elderkin attempted a last-second shot in regulation, but it was pushed wide as the teams went into overtime in a scoreless tie.
Neither team attempted a shot in the first overtime, and Trinity tallied the only shot of the second overtime. In all, the Tigers out-shot the Loggers, 26-8.
Puget Sound makes its home debut by hosting Calvin Friday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m.
