Loggers begin home schedule against non-conference teams

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team makes its 2018 home debut this weekend when the Loggers host both Calvin and Mary Hardin-Baylor for the final two games before the Northwest Conference schedule begins.

Tough time in Texas

The Loggers began with 2018 season a pair of games in Texas, but Puget Sound came home with a pair of 1-0 losses. The Loggers fell to Emory by one goal (Aug. 31), and then suffered a double-overtime loss at No. 12 Trinity (Tex.).

 

That makes a baker's dozen

During the first game of the 2018 season, Jamie Lange set a career record by recording 13 saves against Emory. The very next game against Trinity (Tex.), she tallied 13 saves again. Lange, the reigning NWC Defensive Player of the Year, has a 0.96 GAA and .929 save percentage through two games.

 

Looking ahead

Puget Sound begins the NWC slate by hosting Whitman and Whitworth, Sept. 15-16.

 

Scouting Calvin (2-0)

Out of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Calvin has wins over Carthage and Milwaukee School of Engineering this season. Emily Van Vliet has three of the Knights' five goals this year, and Mckenna Neskey has the other two.

 

Scouting Mary Hardin-Baylor (1-0-1)

Members of the American Southern Conference, Mary Hardin-Baylor has a win against Southern University, and a tie against Texas Lutheran. Four different players have accounted for all four UMHB goals through two games.
