TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team put a season-high 11 shots on goal, but the Loggers battled to a 1-1 draw against Whitworth at Baker Stadium Sunday afternoon. It was the third overtime game of the young season for Puget Sound.
The Loggers' (2-3-1, 1-0-1) Tayla MacPherson broke a scoreless tie with her second goal of the season in the 53rd minute. Erin Brosnan assisted on the score. However, the Pirates (3-1-2, 1-0-1) answered back with a goal just one minute later.
The Loggers had a handful of chances late in the second half. Genevieve Cheatham put a shot on target in the 75th minute, Lura Morton was on target in the 80th minute, and Tess Peppis put a shot on goal in the 83rd minute.
Jaime Lange made four saves through 110 minutes in goal for Puget Sound.
The Loggers continue their Northwest Conference slate on the road at Willamette Saturday, Sept. 22, for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
