Berg scores twice as Loggers move into first place in NWC

TACOMA, Washington – Gabbie Berg scored twice to help the Puget Sound women's soccer team hand Willamette its first loss of the season, 2-1, on East Field Saturday afternoon. 

With the win, Puget Sound (9-4-2, 8-1-2 NWC) claims sole possession of first place in the Northwest Conference.

Less than one minute into the game, the Bearcats (11-1-3, 7-1-3 NWC) took a 1-0 lead. However, the Loggers continued a resiliency they've showcased all season.

Berg's first goal came in the 11th minute, and she scored the game-winner in the 74th minute. CeAnn Romanaggi assisted on the second goal. She leads the team in scoring with six goals this fall. 

Although her shutout streak ended at 526 minutes, Jamie Lange eight saves for Puget Sound.

The Loggers host Lewis & Clark Sunday, Oct. 21, at 12 p.m.
