Berg nets hat-trick in 5-0 win over Pacific

TACOMA, Washington – Gabbie Berg and Kendra Elderkin each scored multiple goals to lead the Puget Sound women's soccer team to a 5-0 win over Pacific in Baker Stadium Saturday afternoon. Puget Sound is ubeaten in its last 10 games.

In the fourth minute of the game, the Logger's (11-4-2, 10-1-2 NWC) Berg scored a goal off of Tayla MacPherson's free kick from just outside the right side of the 18-yard box. The Boxers (2-14-1, 2-10-1 NWC) attempted to even the score five minutes later, but Jamie Lange made the save.

Berg scored her second goal off assists by Genevieve Cheatham and Kalina Cordero in the 36th minute.

Puget Sound carried a 2-0 lead into halftime, but 36 seconds into the second period Berg netted her third goal of the day off of a cross from CeAnn Romanaggi

Elderkin netted a goal 10 minutes later by heading in a corner kick from Romanaggi. Thirty seconds later, Lura Morton drew a foul in the box. Elderkin rebounded her own penalty kick off of Pacific's goalie for her second goal of the game. 

The Loggers put a total 12 shots on goal during the game. Paulina Thrasher made five saves for Puget Sound after closing out the final 32 minutes in net. 

Puget Sound will take on George Fox at 12 p.m. in Baker Stadium Sunday, Oct. 28.
