Loggers score three goals in final 15 minutes to capture NWC title

McMINNVILLE, Oregon – Instead of watching its 2018 season slip away, the Puget Sound women's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Linfield, 3-2, Sunday afternoon. The final game of the regular season was a must-win contest for the Loggers, who now share the Northwest Conference title with Pacific Lutheran.

By way of tiebreaker, Puget Sound (13-5-2, 12-2-2 NWC) earns the automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Selection Show is Monday, Nov. 5, at 10:30 a.m. (PT). Click HERE for more information.

Linfield (10-5-5, 7-4-5 NWC) held a two-goal lead at halftime, but Puget Sound scored all three of its goals in the final 14 minutes of regulation to clinch a postseason berth.

Gabbie Berg netted the Loggers' first score in the 76th minute. It was her 10th goal of the season, and she concludes the regular season as the conference's leading scorer.

Lura Morton netted the equalizer just two minutes later.

Berg and Morton connected for the game-winning goal in the 86th minute. Berg landed a cross to Morton in the box, and Morton buried her fifth game-winning goal of the season into the upper-left corner.

The Loggers clinch their first NWC title since 2015, which was then the program's 14th consecutive conference championship.
