Women's tennis looks to stay hot against Whitworth on Sunday

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's tennis team plays for its fifth win in six contests when the Loggers host Whitworth on Sunday, March 19, at 10 a.m.

 

Four out of five ain't bad

The Loggers have won four of their last five matches, with the one loss coming against George Fox. During the stretch, Puget Sound defeated Pacific Lutheran twice and Willamette twice.

 

Tag team

Nicole Bouche and Lisa Owen have been on a roll as the Loggers' No. 1 doubles team. The duo has won five consecutive matches.

 

Conference landscape

The Loggers are in fifth place in the NWC with a 4-4 conference record. Whitman is in first at 8-1, followed by Linfield (4-1), Lewis & Clark (6-2), and George Fox (4-2).

 

Ow(e)n the awards

Lisa Owen was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for women's tennis on Feb. 27, and she has twice been named the Logger of the Week this spring.

 

Scouting Whitworth (2-5, 2-3 NWC)

The Pirates have won two of their last three matches, including dominant wins over conference opponents. Whitworth beat Pacific, 8-1, and Willamette, 9-0. The Pirates' most recent match was a 6-3 loss against Lewis & Clark State (March 11). Whitworth competes at Pacific Lutheran on March 18, before visiting the Tennis Pavilion at Puget Sound.
