Women's tennis tops team from Parkland in season-opener

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's tennis team opened the 2019 season with an 8-1 home win over Pacific Lutheran, but the Logger men lost at home, 8-1, against the Lutes.

Lisa Owen cruised in the No. 1 slots for Puget Sound. She won her singles match in two sets (6-1, 6-1), and she teamed up with Nicole Bouche for an 8-1 victory in doubles play. Bouche also won her singles competition in two sets (6-2, 6-3).

Bridget Myers and Lia Steeter won at No. 2 doubles 8-2. Myers was also victorious in No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-1). Barclay Fagg (No. 4) and Avery Honaker (No. 6) also won singles matches.

Joshua Wah-Blumberg nearly won a set in No. 2 singles for the Logger men, but he dropped the second set, 7-5, after lost the first, 6-1.

The Puget Sound women next host Willamette, Feb. 10, and the men travel to NCAA D-I Seattle University, Feb. 8.
