TACOMA, Washington – Melanie Siacotos matched her season high in kills with 13 as the Puget Sound volleyball team began its Northwest Conference season with a 3-1 (25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18) victory over Linfield in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night.
Siacotos' 13 kills equaled her total from the second match of the season against nationally-ranked Millikin during the Puget Sound Premiere
The Loggers (4-5, 1-0 NWC) attacked at a .173 clip and limited Linfield (5-4, 0-1 NWC) to just .074. Sydney Voss led all players with 23 digs, and Alli Reviglio followed closely with 20. Revigilio also added eight kills in the winning effort.
During the first set, Puget Sound trailed 9-7, but a kill by Sadie Alloway sparked a 7-0 run for the Loggers. Ayau served for Puget Sound during the run, and she tallied a service ace to increase the Loggers' lead to 13-9.
After dropping the third set, Puget Sound raced out to an 8-3 lead in the fourth and final set. Kills by Ellie Breeden, Jordan Holman, and Blumenfeld helped propel the Loggers to the early lead, and Puget Sound never trailed.
The Loggers are back home to host George Fox Saturday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. in Memorial Fieldhouse.
