PARKLAND, Wash. - The Puget Sound Logger men and women’s cross country teams ran a pair of gritty races at the University Golf Course in Parkland today. Running a lineup devoid of their top three runners, the Loggers relied on younger talent taking third in the women's race and fourth on the men's side.
In the women’s race, the Loggers relied on team depth to edge out Clark College by 3 points for third place. Leading the way for the Logger women was Nika Evans (Wayzata, Minn.), finishing eighth with a time of 24:02.10. The Loggers second runner was Becca Adams (Milwaukie, Ore.), who finished 15th with a time of 25:04.39. The Loggers number three runner Brooke Peaden (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest), number four runner Marnie Hazlehurst (Portland, Ore./St. Mary’s) and number five runner Erin Larkin (Lost Gatos, Calif.) were the key to the third place finish. Their combined 53 points beat out Clark College’s third, fourth and fifth runners who had a combined 69.
On the men’s side, the Loggers were led by Jesse Baldridge (Piedmont, Calif.), who finished 13th with a time of 28:13.09. Next across the line for the Loggers was Patrick Graham(St. Louis, Mo./Watkins), who finished 20th with a time of 28:51.32. The Loggers finished fourth overall with 109 points. PLU won both the men’s and women’s team titles.
The Loggers will be hosting the Puget Sound Invitational at Fort Steilacoom State Park in Lakewood, Wash. next Saturday. The first race will start at 10 a.m.
