TACOMA, Washington - David Santillan represented the Puget Sound men's team in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Mason, Ohio. He placed 196th out of 280 runners.
He crossed the finish line in 25:53.00, his second fastest time of the season.
"David had a great season. His race today was a great learning experience," said Puget Sound head coach Mike Orechia. "It was the first time he has raced in a meet this size and with such a quality field. He is excited to come back and perform better in 2015 championships."
Grant Wintheiser of St. Olaf finished first overall with a time of 23:44.90 while North Central won the team title with 130 points.
Santillan concludes his junior racing season as Puget Sound's top finisher at the Northwest Conference Championships and NCAA West Regionals. At the NWC Championships he placed fifth overall with a time of 26:04.30. At the West Regionals, Santillan finished in 25:50.70, his fastest time of the season and good for ninth place overall.
