PARKLAND, Washington – Freshman Colin Monaghan placed second overall in the men's 8k of the Pacific Lutheran Invitational, and both the Puget Sound men's and women's cross country teams finished fifth Saturday afternoon.
Monaghan crossed the finish line in 25:07.07, and placed first among all NCAA D-III runners. He continues the stellar start to his collegiate career after winning the Puget Sound Invitational (Sept. 1).
During the women's 6k, Samantha Schaffer paced the Loggers to a ninth-place finish with a time of 23:35.33.
As a team, the Logger women totaled 126 points to finish ahead of Northwest Conference members George Fox, Pacific Lutheran, and Lewis & Clark. The Puget Sound men finished with 127 points, placing ahead of Lewis & Clark, Pacific, and Whitman.
Puget Sound's next competition is in the Charles Bowles Invitational, hosted by Willamette, Sept. 29.
