TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound cross country teams return to a familiar course for the Northwest Conference Championships Saturday, Oct. 27. Lewis & Clark is hosting the event at McIver State Park in Estacada, Oregon.

Just there

The Loggers' most recent competition was the Lewis & Clark Invitational in McIver State Park, Oct. 13. The Logger men placed sixth out of 13 teams, and the women were seventh out of 14.

A rookie favorite

Puget Sound men's freshman Colin Monaghan has not finished behind a single NCAA D-III runner in either of his four races this fall. He has been named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week four times this season. Among NCAA D-III runners, Monaghan finished first in the Puget Sound Invitational, Pacific Lutheran Invitational, Charles Bowles Invitational, and Lewis & Clark Invitational.

Beginners' strength

Two Puget Sound women's freshmen made their names known during the 2017 NWC Championships in Walla Walla, Washington. Samantha Schaffer was named the NWC Women's Freshman of the Year, and she and classmate Rachael Metzler were named to the All-NWC Second Team.

A return for Bradlina

Emery Bradlina missed the 2017 cross country season while studying abroad, but she has made a strong impact for the Logger women during the 2018 campaign. Notably, Bradlina won the first race of the 2018 season – the Puget Sound Invitational – by timing in at 23:41.00.

2017 NWC Championships

Liam Monaghan was the top men's runner for Puget Sound in the 2017 NWC Championships, timing in at 27:38.8. Samantha Schaffer timed in at 22:54.7 to place eighth overall as the Logger women's top runner. Overall, the Logger men finished ninth and the women placed third.
