TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's and women's cross country teams head to eastern Washington for the NCAA D-III West Regionals hosted by Whitman in Walla Walla, Washington, Saturday, Nov. 10.
Freshman Colin Monaghan earned three top Northwest Conference awards: NWC Champion, NWC Men's Runner of the Year, and NWC Men's Freshman of the Year. Through five races in his collegiate career, Monaghan has not finished behind another NCAA D-III runner.
Who to watch for
In addition to Colin Monaghan's accolades, two other Loggers received NWC honors. Jack Lindauer was named to the All-NWC Second Team, and Samantha Schaffer earned All-NWC Second Team for the second consecutive year.
Monaghan's top competition
Colin Monaghan expects runners from Willamette and Pomona-Pitzer to finish near the top of the NCAA West Regional standings. Monaghan says the key to his success is to maintain a high, consistent pace.
