TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men’s tennis team lost to visiting Pacific, 9-0, while the women’s squad lost at Pacific, 8-1.
Farrell Ahlf grabbed the lone victory for the Logger women with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at No. 3 singles. Two of Puget Sound’s three doubles teams nearly pulled off a win. Teresa Bild and Alison Goo battled to an 8-5 defeat at No. 2 doubles, while Ahlf and Tamara Runnicles lost by the same margin in No. 3 doubles.
The top two Logger men’s singles players fought into tie breakers, but both came up just short. Daniel Deuel won his first set, 6-3, but lost the second set, 6-4, and the tie-breaker was decided by 10-4. Joe McRoberts also won his first set, 6-4, but dropped the second, 6-4. The tie-breaker came down to a gut-wrenching 13-11 loss.
The men host George Fox on Sunday, March 1, at 1 p.m. The women next compete on March 7 when they host the College of Idaho at 3 p.m.
