Women's tennis trounces PLU in season-opener

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's tennis team began its 2022 season with a dominant 7-2 win over Pacific Lutheran in the Tennis Pavilion Friday evening.

The Loggers (1-0) won each of the top five singles matches. Reigning All-NWC First Team honoree Andie Machida won at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-0). Avery Honaker also won in two sets at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-0), and Paige Shinall won at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-0).
 
At No. 4 singles, Zoe Love fought hard for a first-set victory and won in two sets (7-6, 6-0). Rachel Heinke won at No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-0).
 
Shinall and Love teamed up win at No. 2 doubles (8-1), while Love and Heinke claimed victory at No. 3 doubles (8-5).
