MICHELBOOK COUNTRY CLUB, Ore. – The Logger men's and women's golf teams competed in the two-day NWC Fall Classic Invitational this past weekend. The Puget Sound women's team finished 6th overall, while the men placed 8th overall.
The Logger ladies had two of our four competitors place in the top 20. Yet again, sophomore Kaila Bonawitz was a leading force placing 13th place and shooting a 159 between the two rounds. Close behind, freshman Kira Goode landed 17th place, with a total score of 162 between two rounds.
Although the men's team placed 8th overall, freshman Cade Streeter ruled the course, tying for 2nd place with an impressive 138 between both rounds. Sophomore, Andrew Spitzer, contributed with a score of 148 between the two rounds, tying for 24th place.
Coach Conner Robbins remains optimistic about his team's potential, despite a challenging outing at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic, the first of three conference tournaments this year. Robbins continues to see growth in his team saying, "During the tournament, I had the privilege of providing support to Cade Streeter, essentially serving as his caddy during the crucial final six holes. His exemplary composure throughout the competition was truly impressive. He executed a flawless performance on the back nine, leaving no room for wasted shots. The victor from Whitman, played the round of his life with five straight birdies in the middle of the round."
Robbins emphasizes his players' passion for the game, "We are in year three of our five year plan, and I promise we are going to become a great program." Robbins explains Streeter is an integral part of the programs growth stating "We're on track for success, and it's exciting to see Streeter living up to his potential."
This next weekend, October 21st and 22nd, the Loggers golf teams will participate in the Whitman Invitational at the Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Washington.
