Logger swim team falls short in dual against Simon Fraser

TACOMA, Wash., – The Puget Sound men's and women's swim teams competed in their first meet of the season against NCAA Division II Simon Fraser University on Saturday afternoon.

On the women's side, senior Elinor Glass came away with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.07. Other strong women performances were delivered by Maddy Brennan taking second in both the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events, and Amy Madsen capturing third in the 50-yard freestyle. Despite strong individual results the Loggers fell 222-40.

In the men's races, freshman Emory Burden captured the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 22:17 in his first collegiate meet. Elijah Grinstead also raced well, finishing third in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events. Teammate Will Cabana was able to add to the point total with a second place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. In the end, Simon Fraser beat Puget Sound by a score of 42-220. 

The swimming team will compete next weekend, Oct. 27th and 28th at the Northwest Conference relay and sprint meets in McMinnville, Oregon.
