SPOKANE, Wash. – The men's swimming team came very close in the 200-yard medley relay finishing just .3 of a second behind Whitworth, but couldn't continue that momentum moving forward, losing to Whitworth University 133-64, while the women's team came much closer with a 107.5-95.5 loss.
Among the standout performances by the women's team,
Maddy Brennan clinched a first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.87, and then second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:35.14.
Elinor Glass took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.65, and second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.52.
Amy Madsen claimed victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.35 and second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.48.
Lara Franco posted a second place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:07.14.
Sara Guillen made an impressive second place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:57.13. Freshman
Kass McLennan finished in second place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.76
On the men's team, freshman
Emory Burden managed a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.85.
Lance Mielke came home with a first place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.34 and second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.87.
Josh Cunningham claimed a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.47.
Both men's and women's teams demonstrated strength finishing first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with top times of 1:28.97 for the men and 1:48.10 for the women.
The Loggers meet again tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. to take on Whitman College in Spokane, Wash. at Harvey Pool.
