Jaden Francis to Represent Guam

| By:

BUDAPEST, Hungary (10 December 2024) – Logger swimmer Jaden Francis is competing in his third international swimming event today at the 2024 World Aquatics' Swimming Championships in Budapest.

Francis, recognized as one of Guam's top swimmers, is representing the island nation. Joining Francis on the three-person Guam team are 16-year-old Amaya Bollinger and 18-year-old Israel Poppe.

"I'm just keeping my mind right and doing my best to stay mentally prepared," Francis shared. "Not a lot of people get the opportunity to do this. It's something that my teammates and others I know would never have the chance to do. I'm so excited and humbled by the process—it's something I've wanted for so long."

Reflecting on his growth since his debut on the international stage, Francis noted feeling more prepared for the logistical and procedural elements unique to world championships. "I think I'll have a decent idea of what this process will look like outside of the pool," he said, referencing aspects such as accreditation, pool deck staff support, and other nuances not typically encountered at the Division III level.

"As long as I give 100% effort and execute my job to the best of my ability, I'll be happy with my performance," Francis remarked. "There are always other races, and I'm still planning on swimming after college. I want to perform well, of course, but at the end of the day, this is just another competition."

Francis is competing in the 100 and 200-meter short-course butterfly. The 2024 World Championships schedule and live stream can be found here.
