PORTLAND, Ore. – Freshmen
Liz Beiswanger and
Alex Rhodes both stole first place in the women's and men's 200-meter dash as five Loggers put scores in the record book to commence the 2024 Indoor Season with an impressive showing at the Chiles Center on the University of Portland Campus on Sunday.
Record-Breaking Performances:
In first place, Rhodes, a standout Logger sprinter, ran in at 22.37, a new University of Puget Sound athletics record for the 200-meter indoor, while Beiswinger dashed to a third place slot in the indoor record book for Puget Sound at a time of 26.38.
Senior
Jackilyn Lewis showcased her sprinting prowess by finishing second in the 400-m with a remarkable time of 58.56, setting a new indoor school record for the Loggers. Then, Lewis took third in the 200-m, running in at 26.52. Freshman
Erin Schmidlin impressed with a second place finish in the 800-m coming in at 2:25.23, Schmidlin now holds the fourth place finish for the indoor 800-m in the Logger record book.
Kyrstin Wilson took fourth place in the 200-m with a time of 50.93.

Avery Keith demonstrated his speed claiming a second place spot in the Puget Sound record books by seizing a third place finish in the 400-m coming in at 50.93, just .73 seconds behind University of California, Santa Cruz with the first place finish.
Impressive Team Dynamics:
The team's collective efforts were evident as they showcased their strengths across various events, setting records and securing top positions. Head Coach Lisa Kushiyama expressed her delight with the team's performance, stating, "I'm incredibly happy with our team's first performances of the season! Two school records were broken today and we saw a lot of PR's all around. I'm excited to keep building upon this success and see what this group can do throughout the season."
