Men's Swimming takes first win on day one of the Northwest Conference Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – On day one of the Northwest Conference Swimming Championships the Puget Sound men's swimming relay team comprised of Will Cabana, Lance Mielke, Cam Aaselund, and Emory Burden swam to a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay coming in at 1:32.79 on Thursday evening to start the meet strong.

Whitworth University was just .18 seconds behind the Loggers in the win. The men's team took fourth place in the 800-freestyle relay, while Whitworth University took first place. 

The women's team were able to grab two third-place finishes on the first day. In the 200-medley relay, with a team of Amy Madsen, Elinor Glass, Maddy Brennan, and Holly Zipay the quartet finished in a time of 1:48.75, just .83 seconds behind Linfield Universities first place finish. The women of Brennan, Annie Sullivan, Zipay, and Sara Guillen brought endurance in the lengthy 800-free relay race finishing with a season best time of 7:53.51. 

Session 2 on Friday, Feb. 9 will start with the preliminaries at 9:30 a.m. and then the nine NWC men's teams will kick off at 5 p.m. with the 500-free finals followed by the eight women's teams, then both the men's and women's teams will compete in the 200-individual medley, after will be the 50-free and finally the 400-medley relay to finish off the night.
