Logger women's tennis battles in 5-4 loss to Willamette

TACOMA, Wash. — Ella Parker won in consecutive singles matches this weekend, but ultimately the Loggers fell 5-4 to Willamette University on Saturday and 8-1 to Pacific University on Sunday. 

Against Willamette, Marissa Perez and Hyla Chatham started the Loggers off with a win in #2 doubles play with set scores of 8-7 and 10-8. The duo, Kaylee Yamada and Krishna Agrawal lost in #1 doubles by a 8-4 margin. 

The Loggers split singles play 3-3. Yamada continued with a win in #1 singles outscoring Willamette 6-2, 6-2. Perez battled for another win, but was stopped with a 6(3)-7, 1-6 loss. Agrawal went to three sets to fall 4-6, 6-4, 3-6. Zoe Richter grabbed a win in #5 singles 7-5, 6-4. Followed by a dominant win from Ella Parker who grabbed set scores of 6-2, 6-2. 

The Loggers struggled to find rhythm against Pacific University as they fell 1-8, 3-8, 3-8 in doubles play, closing in on #5 singles play as their solo win.

Parker won in the first set 6-2, then fell in the second set 1-6, but clawed back to a 10-8 lead to finish Pacific off and grab the Loggers their single victory of the day.

The Puget Sound Logger women's tennis team will be not be back on the court until Saturday, March 30, at noon in Newberg, Oregon.
