TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound men's tennis team fell to a 7-2 loss against Whitman College on Saturday in the Tennis Pavilion.
Jason Rowe and
Will Church battled to an 8-3 loss in #1 doubles, but then
Noah Henderson and
Matthew Zou fought back prevailing over Lucas Huang and Cameran Yang in an 8-5 spectacular win in #2 doubles. In #3 doubles,
Tyler Blixt and
Levi Buck fell to their Whitman opponents 8-3.
Moving to the singles matches, the battle raged on. Rowe from demonstrated his prowess in the #1 singles, defeating Yang in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. However, Whitman quickly bounced back, with Huang securing a win against Henderson in the #2 singles. Artem Manov continued Whitman's winning streak by triumphing over Carson Ward in the #3 singles.
Despite the Loggers valiant efforts to turn the tide, Alejandro Raffo of the Whitman Blues emerged victorious in a hard-fought, three set series in #4 singles match against Church who fell 5-7, 3-6, and 6-10. Charles Rush sealed the deal for Whitman with a commanding win over Zou from in the #5 singles. The final blow came in the #6 singles, where Hanri Luo of Whitman clinched the victory against Brayden Sawyer.
The Loggers finished 2-8 against Northwest Conference teams in 2024.
