Loggers men's tennis succeed in doubles but still falls short against the Pioneers

Box Score TACOMA, Wash. — Despite winning two out of three doubles, the Puget Sound Loggers fell short against Lewis and Clark College, 6-3, on Sunday, in the Tennis Pavilion.

Freshman Jason Rowe and Will Church dominated in the doubles #1 with quick saves, securing an 8-5 victory. They were followed by seniors Matthew Zou and Noah Henderson who also won their doubles match, 8-5. Levi Buck and Tyler Blixt fought hard, but came up short, 3-8.

In singles #1, Rowe controlled his match by employing curving shots and drop shots, confusing his opponent, Noah Sutin, resulting in a consecutive victories.

Then, in the #2 singles, Henderston came up short in his first set, losing 6-3, but made a comeback in the second set winning 6-4 scoring with a backspin shot, only to fall short in the final set, 6-2.

Followed by singles #3 and #4 where Carson Ward and Church struggled to find their rhythm and fell short, losing 6-1, 6-2.

In singles #5, Blixt stumbled with his match-up, but attempted a recovery and ultimately was unable to overcome his opponent with a score of 6-0 and 6-2. 

Matthew Zou had a close game against his opponent, Landon Cronin, in singles #6, coming up short 6-4 and 6-1

The Puget Sound Loggers men's tennis team will compete in their final Northwest Conference match against Whitman College, on April 13, at 11 a.m., in the Tennis Pavilion.
