Men's Tennis Takes Moral Victory in Loss to Portland State

| By:

PORTLAND, Ore. – Logger Men's Tennis opened their spring season today with a visit to Portland State, marking the program's first Division I matchup in over five years. Despite having just a week of practice, the team came "ready to play," said head coach Matt Simons.

The Loggers competed in Division I format, where all three doubles matches count for individual points, and the remaining doubles match is halted once the first two are decided. Puget Sound's No. 1 duo, Jason Rowe and Will Church, held a 3-2 lead in their match before it was stopped due to this format.

In singles play, the Loggers continued to showcase their determination and resilience. Simons expressed satisfaction with his team's effort, calling the experience a "tremendous opportunity" to kick off the season against a competitive opponent and prepare for the challenges of conference play.

Puget Sound begins Northwest Conference competition in two weeks, hosting the Pacific Boxers on February 14th in Tacoma.
