Loggers Break Team Record at Confluence Classic

| By:
WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Loggers place second for their best finish of the fall, breaking a school record during their incredible play on day 1 of the Confluence Classic.

How it Happened
Day 1
Three Loggers finished under par at Veterans Memorial GC, finishing the round in first place. Cade Streeter led the way, birdying his first two, and last two holes to shoot 68 (-4) to lead the team. A total of six birdies put him in a great spot after round one, recording his best round of the season so far.

Andrew Spitzer also shot in the 60s, recording three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 8th to shoot a 69 (-3). He started out his round two over through thee holes, going five-under through his last 15 to break 70. Jack Kuntz rounded out the under-par scores, firing a 2-under 70 for the Loggers. His lone bogey on the par-4 11th was the only blemish on his otherwise perfect scorecard, shooting a 35 (-1) on each nine.

Charlie Stephens rounded out the scoring four, shooting a 73 (+1) for his best round of the season. Two birdies in his final four holes brought him closer to even par, jumping the Loggers into first place after round one. Jackson Dolarque also had some solid stretches in his round, firing an 83 (+11) as the fifth and final Logger.

Their team score of 280 (-8) breaks the previous record by two, as this team is now etched into the history books for recording the lowest one-round team score.

Day 2
The second round proved difficult, as Wine Valley GC got the best of the team. Stephens fired the best round of the day for Puget Sound, recording yet another 73 (+1) to match his day-one score. Streeter started and ended his round well again, recording a birdie on the first and last holes, but had some trouble inbetween. He ended up with a 76 (+4), but still finished T-3 after two games.

Spitzer and Dolarque shot 81 (+9) and 82 (+10) respectively, rounding out the scoring for the team. Kuntz was the star of the show, though, bridying two of his final three holes to put the Loggers back in second place. Despite falling out of the lead, Kuntz's clutch performance helped the team come back and still finish in second.

What Happens Next
The Loggers are done for the fall, but look to continue their good momentum in the spring.
