Loggers Conclude Fall Dual Meets With Win Over Bearcats

| By:
TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers continue their success in Northwest Conference dual meets, picking up two more wins over the Willamette Bearcats.

How it Happened
Both teams got it done in the 200 Medley Relay to start the day, as Brandon Tsang, Brendan Kerns, Liam Tudor, and Joel Liu pieced together a 1:36.61. The women's team followed that up with a 1:53.83, as Pia Lihou, Adison Cosbey-Lewis, Daphne Khong, and Lelia Ollenburg outpaced the Bearcats.

Sam Lyon continued to show why he's one of the best swimmers in the nation, posting a top-15 time in the mile. He came in with a 16:24.20, which was nearly 40 seconds ahead of the next swimmer. If he continues to swim this well, he will most likely make an appearance at the National Meet in late February.

Ayla Rowan also won the mile, this time by over a minute. Her time of 19:29.04 broke her seed time by eight seconds, and she lapped the entire field once, if not twice, to take home a Logger win.

Jonah Kembel was up next, winning the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.17. Gus Rudenick and Emory Burden also competed, coming in third and fourth to wrap up the point-earners for the 200 free.

The 50 free was also all Loggers, as Liu and Kai Sackreiter went 1-2. Liu finished with a time of 22.02, and Sackreiter was right behind him in 22.24. On the women's side, Ollenburg continues to impress in her sophomore season. She swam a 25.07, which was more than a second faster than the next Puget Sound competitor.

Madeline Brennan then won the 400 IM, Lyon and Khong won the 100 Butterfly, and Ollenburg capped off her day with a speedy 56.06 in the 100 free.

The Logger chants kept on coming throughout the meet, as Tsang took first in the 100 Backstroke, and Laleeta Pal wrapped things up in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:34.34. Cosbey-Lewis notched the final individual win of the evening in the 100 Breaststroke, finishing with a 1:13.02.

As is tradition, the 200 freestyle relay concluded today's events. The men's "A" team took first with a 1:27.19, and the women's team followed that up with a 1:43.03 en route to a Logger victory.

Coach's Thoughts
"It was another day of fast swimming at Wallace Pool. Both the men and women dominated the Bearcats. Again, our team raced well while tired. We are setting ourselves up for a great team performance at the Logger Invite."

What Happens Next
The Loggers take a little break before the Logger Invite, which will be hosted at home on December 5th, 6th, and 7th.
