TACOMA, Washington (February 15, 2025) -- The Logger men's tennis team (0-2, 0-1 NWC) opened Northwest Conference play at home against Pacific University (2-0, 1-0 NWC) but fell 6-1 despite some hard-fought singles matches. The Loggers experimented with new doubles pairings in an effort to find the right combinations, but it wasn't enough to overcome a strong Pacific squad.
Jason Rowe and
Will Church showed promise at No. 1 doubles, pushing their opponents but ultimately falling 7-5.
Carson Ward and
Trent Beckman delivered the team's best doubles performance with a 7-5 victory, giving the Loggers a boost. However, Tyler Blitz and
Jackson Stumpf couldn't find their rhythm at No. 3, dropping their match 6-0, which gave Pacific the doubles point.
The Loggers showed resilience in singles play, battling through multiple three-set matches.
Jason Rowe delivered a dominant performance at No. 1, controlling the match from start to finish for an emphatic 6-0, 6-1 victory—the Loggers' lone point of the match.
At No. 2,
Will Church fought through a grueling three-set match but came up just short in a third-set tiebreak, falling 6-0, 3-6, 7-5.
Trent Beckman (No. 3) and Tyler Blitz (No. 4) also forced third sets but couldn't close them out, showing flashes of strong play in tough losses.
Jackson Stumpf (No. 5) and
Vincent Unpingco (No. 6) struggled to find their footing and fell in straight sets.
The Loggers play again tomorrow against Willamette in the tennis pavilion.
