SPOKANE, Washington (February 15, 2025) – The Loggers had a strong showing in day two of the Whitworth Invitational, ending the meet with 31 new personal records and 11 top ten finishes.
Starting with the field events,
Khai Tong placed fifth in the men's triple jump landing a distance of 11.76m. This was followed up by four Loggers in the men's shot put.
Thomas Goeglein placed 10th, throwing 14.44m. Lastly,
Max Pedrotti-Jacobs set a new personal best in the men's pole vault with a height of 3.70m.
The running events kicked off with the men's 3000m. Four Loggers competed and each of them ended the race with a new personal best time.
Ben Kerr led the pack with a time of 8:34.32.
Next up were the 60m preliminaries. On the men's side,
Alex Rhodes and
Bryson Boyea-Quiton qualified for the semifinals, racing final times of 7.04 and 7.19 seconds but were unable to crack the top and race in the finals. For the women, Krystin Wilson also qualified for the semifinals with a time of 7.80 seconds.
The Loggers had a strong showing in the 400m on both sides. For the men,
Alex Rhodes took first place (46.55) and
Avery Keith placed sixth (48.28). Rhodes, as well as the three runners behind him, broke the meet record, set last year by Rhodes himself. For the women,
Lizzie Beiswanger set a new personal best and placed second (56.68).
Three athletes competed in the 800m.
Dillon Yell and
Oliver Kreimer took seventh and 15th, respectively, while
Erin Schmidlin placed seventh among an impressive group.
The last event for the Loggers was the 200m dash.
Avery Keith shone on the men's side, setting a new personal record with a time of 22.25 and placing 12th. Krystin Wilson also set a new personal record of 25.15 and placed sixth.
Next weekend will be the Loggers first home meet of the season. The
Ed Boitano Invitational will take place Friday Feb 28th and Saturday March 1st.
