Loggers Earns Dominating Win Against Willamette

TACOMA, Washington (February 16, 2025) – The Logger men's tennis team (1-2, 1-1 NWC) bounced back in dominant fashion, sweeping Willamette (0-3, 0-2 NWC) 7-0 in their first Northwest Conference win of the season. Puget Sound controlled the day from start to finish, winning two doubles matches before carrying that momentum into singles play.

The Loggers set the tone early by sweeping the doubles point. Tyler Blixt and Trent Beckman cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles, while Carson Ward and Jackson Stumpf secured a 6-4 win at No. 3, giving the Loggers a 1-0 lead heading into singles. Jason Rowe and Will Church were sharp at No. 1 doubles, but fell in a seventh set tie-breaker 6-7.

Puget Sound's singles lineup was relentless, winning all six matches in straight sets. Rowe led the way at No. 1, grinding out a 6-3  6-3 win. Church followed with a strong 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 2. Ward (No. 3) and Beckman (No. 4) each dominated their opponents, dropping just a handful of games. Blixt and Stumpf sealed the sweep with decisive wins at No. 5 and No. 6, securing a perfect day for the Loggers.

With their first win of the season under their belts, the Loggers will look to build on this momentum as they continue Northwest Conference play next weekend at George Fox.
