SALEM, Oregon (February 16, 2025) – The Logger women's tennis team put up a strong fight on the road but narrowly fell to Willamette, 4-3, in a closely contested Northwest Conference matchup at the Salem Tennis & Swim Club.
The Loggers fought hard in singles, winning three of six matches, but the Bearcats had already secured the crucial doubles point by taking two of the three doubles matches. The duo of
Pearl Buck and
Zoe Hughes gave UPS a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles, but Willamette responded with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the early 1-0 lead.
In singles, Puget Sound clawed back with strong performances from
Paige Shinall at No. 2 singles (7-5, 6-4),
Krishna Agrawal at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-4), and Buck at No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-2). However, Willamette secured wins at No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6 singles to clinch the match.
Despite the tough loss, the Loggers showed resilience and will look to bounce back when they continue conference play next Saturday against George Fox.
