NEWBERG, Ore. — The Puget Sound track and field team delivered a strong performance at the George Fox Indoor #1 meet on Saturday, February 8, 2025, competing against a mix of collegiate and unattached athletes. Several Loggers set personal bests, while others secured top finishes across the competitive lineup.
Sprint Events Lead the Charge
Junior Kyrstin Wilson led the way for Puget Sound in the women's 60-meter dash, clocking a swift 7.84 seconds to take second place in the finals. Wilson had earlier qualified with a preliminary time of 7.91 seconds, placing forth. On the men's side, freshman Bryson Boyea-Quiton posted a personal-best time of 7.29 seconds in the prelims, finishing 21st overall, and #6 in Puget Sound's all-time indoor record book.
In the men's 60-meter dash, sophomore Khai Tong crossed the line in 7.77 seconds, finishing in the top half of the field. Fellow Logger sophomore Jacob Schaal was close behind with a time of 7.81 seconds.
The Puget Sound men's sprinters showed depth with multiple athletes posting competitive times. Junior Brogan Murphy finished with a mark of 7.48 seconds, while freshman Zachary Slominski clocked in at 7.91 seconds - a personal best. These performances highlight a growing sprint squad that continues to make strides early in the indoor season.
On the women's side, senior Victoria Bradshaw recorded a time of 8.70 seconds in the 60-meter dash, while freshman Naveah Purnell-Bishop crossed in 8.80 seconds. Sophomore Quinn Reublin-Geer followed closely behind at 8.86 seconds.
Action On the Field
Boyea-Quiton also finished 2nd in the long jump with a long of 21'8", solidifying him at #3 on Puget Sound's all-time indoor record list. Thomas Goeglein finished 6th in shot put, putting him at #8 all-time with a best of 41'5.75". Taylor Rees threw 42'6" in weight throw, solidifying his place at #4 all-time. On the women's side, Victoria Bradshaw jumped 9'6.25" in pole vault, finishing 8th, putting her at #5 all time. Callie Katsura threw 29'10" in shot put, placing her at #2 all time on UPS record book. Rosali Patterson is also now #2 all-time, with a weight throw of 30'10.5.
Looking Ahead
With the indoor season in full swing, the Loggers will look to build on this momentum as they continue preparations for upcoming meets. The squad will aim to fine-tune their performances and break into more finals as the season progresses. Next up, Puget Sound will head to Whitworth University on February 14th & 15th.
