TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound track and field team delivered standout performances over the weekend, posting multiple first-place finishes and personal bests across a variety of events.
The Loggers' relay teams showcased speed and chemistry. The men's 4x100 squad of
Peyton Damasiewicz,
Bryson Boyea-Quiton,
Brogan Murphy, and
Matthew Hannah clocked in at 43.19 seconds to take the first place position. The women's 4x100 relay team of Sophia Rivas, Elizabeth Beiswanger,
Victoria Bradshaw, and
Kyrstin Wilson crossed the line in 48.73 seconds, also winning their race.
Individually,
Ben Kerr dominated the men's 1500-meter run, claiming first place with a time of 3:56.36. Teammate
Dillon Yell followed closely, earning third at 3:59.60. On the women's side,
Erin Schmidlin ran a solid 4:45.30 to secure second place in the 1500, before adding another second-place finish in the 800 at 2:20.34.
In the hurdles,
Quinn Reublin-Geer clocked 16.06 in the women's 100-meter event, securing a runner-up finish, while
Whitney Nelson took third in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.41.
The Loggers were dominant in the sprints.
Alex Rhodes stole the show in the men's 400-meter dash, surging to victory in 46.50 seconds.
Avery Keith was right behind him, finishing in 48.15 for second place. Beiswanger returned to the track and captured gold in the women's 400 with a 56.15 finish.
Kyrstin Wilson displayed her sprinting prowess in the women's 200-meter dash, taking first place in 25.12.
Long-distance success capped off the meet, with
Cian Monaghan taking the top spot in the men's 5000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 15:15.44.
With multiple podium finishes and strong showings across the board, the Loggers continue to build momentum as they prepare for their next competition - across town at Pacific Lutheran on March 8th.
