Loggers Make Their Mark at PLU Invitational

LAKEWOOD, Washington (March 14, 2025) -- The Puget Sound track and field team delivered an impressive showing on the first day of the PLU Invitational, held across town in Lakewood. With standout performances across multiple events, the Loggers showcased both depth and talent, landing 17 top-3 finishes in a field featuring nine teams from across the Pacific Northwest.

Puget Sound's women's sprint squad dominated the short distances, with Kyrstin Wilson taking first in the 100m dash (12.29) and teammate Elizabeth Beiswanger securing second (12.69). Wilson doubled up in the 200m, winning convincingly in 25.16, while Beiswanger again took second (25.77). On the men's side, Brogan Murphy led the charge with a strong third-place finish in the 200m (23.21) after posting an 11.66 in the 100m.

Avery Keith (1:55.94) and Tdohasan Sunray (1:57.22) made their mark in the 800m finishing second and third, respectively, in a tight race. On the women's side, Alana Lim placed second in the 800m (2:31.50) after a solid third-place showing in the 1500m (5:18.19).

The 5000m was a highlight for Puget Sound, with Erin Schmidlin running a stellar 18:28.65 to take first place, followed closely by teammate Lydia Cocciolone in fourth (18:55.97). On the men's side, Cian Monaghan battled to a second-place finish (15:02.34), adding another strong showing to his season.

Quinn Reublin-Geer took second in the women's 100m hurdles (16.12), while Mercer Stauch clocked 1:00.27 for sixth in the men's 400m hurdles. In the jumps, Victoria Bradshaw cleared 2.79m (9-1.75) to claim second in the pole vault, and Brogan Murphy soared to victory in the long jump with a leap of 6.56m (21-6.25).

The Loggers' men's 4x400m relay team secured second place in a competitive field, finishing in 3:27.54. Meanwhile, Wayss impressed in the hammer throw with a best mark of 40.38m (132-6) to finish seventh.

On Saturday, Thomas Goeglein led the way for the Loggers, finishing 4th in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.14m, and fifth place in the discus with a throw of 41.89m. Izac Stoilkovich placed 10th in javelin at 37.21m, with Hayden Smith following at 34.56m.

On the women's side, Lianna Saucedo secured 4th in javelin with 29.41m, while Madeline Wafer and Callie Katsura competed well in the shot put, throwing 7.86m and 7.28m, respectively.

The Loggers' next meet is in Forest Grove, Oregon on March 24th and 25th. They will return home for the Peyton Shotwell Invitational on March 29th.
