TACOMA, Wash. – The University of Puget Sound men's and women's tennis teams faced tough competition over the weekend, both falling by an overall score of 8-1. Despite the setbacks, several Loggers demonstrated resilience and competitive play throughout the matches.

On the men's side, Puget Sound struggled in doubles play, dropping all three matches decisively. However, in singles competition, Jackson Stumpf secured the lone victory for the Loggers, battling through a grueling three-set match to emerge victorious, 6-1, 5-7, and a whopping 16-14. Stumpf's performance showcased his endurance and composure under pressure. Meanwhile, Jason Rowe put up a strong fight but ultimately fell in straight sets. Will Church displayed grit by forcing a third set in his singles match, but he was unable to close it out.

The women's team also faced a challenging day on the court, finishing with an identical 8-1 loss. The highlight of the match came in doubles play, where the duo of Zoe Hughes and Krishna Agrawal edged out a victory, securing the team's only point. In singles action, Kaylee Yamada started strong in the first set but struggled to maintain momentum, leading to a disappointing second-set performance. Paige Shinall produced the most competitive singles effort for the Loggers, though she ultimately fell short.

Both teams will look to regroup as they prepare for their next matches. Puget Sound returns to action tomorrow, against Willamette with hopes of building upon individual successes and finding more consistency across the board.
