TACOMA, Washington (March 29, 2025) – The Loggers showcased their depth and talent as they hosted 14 teams for the Peyton Shotwell Invitational. The women dominated the competition, securing first place with 142 points, while the men earned a strong second-place finish with 98 points.
The women's 4x100m relay team, featuring Sophia Rivas,
Lizzie Beiswanger,
Victoria Bradshaw, and
Kyrstin Wilson, claimed victory with a time of 49.57. Wilson had an outstanding day, winning both the 100m (12.05) and 200m (24.85) dashes. Beiswanger delivered a commanding performance in the 400m, crossing the finish line in 56.30—an impressive four seconds ahead of the next competitor. Rivas placed fifth, while
Whitney Nelson finished eighth in a competitive field. Nelson also took seventh in the 100m hurdles.
On the men's side,
Bryson Boyea-Quiton placed seventh in the 100m, third in the 200m, and demonstrated his versatility by winning the long jump with a leap of 6.61m.
The Loggers continued their dominance in the 1500m.
Ben Kerr (4:01.07) and
Dillon Yell (4:05.60) secured first and third place, respectively, for the men. In the women's 1500m,
Erin Schmidlin took first with a time of 4:46.64, followed by
Brooklyn Gildersleeve-Stiles in fourth (5:02.71) and
Alana Lim in eighth, collectively adding 16 points to the team's total. All three athletes also competed in the 800m, where Schmidlin took another victory (2:22.44), Lim placed fifth, and Gildersleeve-Stiles finished eighth.
Tdohasan Sunray led the men in the 800m, securing third with a time of 1:57.98.
In the 5000m, Cian Monahan battled his brother, Colin ('22), in a thrilling race, both finishing more than 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Cian placed second with a time of 14:47.67. On the women's side,
Claire Mullen and
Emily Moore ran a close race, finishing second and third, respectively.
The field events provided additional highlights.
Rosali Patterson placed second in the discus with a throw of 34.44m, followed by
Callie Katsura (fourth, 31.98m) and
Eva Bebber (sixth, 31.40m).
Thomas Goeglein put up a strong showing, placing fourth in the discus and third in the shot put. Freshman
Jerrik Wade earned third place in the men's javelin (49.45m), while Lianna Saucedo secured fourth for the women (28.77m).
Amelie Young tied her collegiate best in the high jump, finishing second with a height of 1.48m.
The meet concluded with stellar performances in the 4x400m relays. The men's team, consisting of
Jake Schaal, Sunray,
Mercer Stauch, and
Brogan Murphy, took second with a time of 3:28.39. The women's squad—Bradshaw, Schmidlin, Wilson, and Beiswanger—nearly broke the four-minute barrier, clocking in at 4:00.45, finishing a remarkable 27 seconds ahead of their closest competitors.
The Loggers will head to Lakewood next weekend to compete at Pacific Lutheran University's Spring Invitational. The tentative schedule can be found
