| By:
WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Despite strong efforts from Jason Rowe and Jackson Stumpf, the Puget Sound men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Whitman in Northwest Conference action Saturday morning.

Rowe led the way for the Loggers with a commanding victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Whitman's C. Yang in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. He also teamed up with Will Church at No. 1 doubles, though the pair dropped their match 6-2 to Whitman's Baker and Stage.

Stumpf battled through a gritty contest at No. 5 singles, coming out on top in a two-set thriller against Baker, 7-5, 7-5. He also partnered with Trent Beckman in doubles play, but the Logger duo came up short 6-1 against Rush and Guzman.

Whitman came out hot in doubles, sweeping all three courts to grab an early 3-0 lead. Huang and Yang blanked Puget Sound's No. 3 pairing of Tyler Blixt and Vincent Unpingco, 6-0, to complete the sweep.

In singles, the Blues secured the team win with three additional victories. Huang downed Church at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Manov handled Carson Ward at the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 4 singles, Beckman fell to Raffo, 6-2, 6-3.

Unpingco dropped his No. 6 singles match to Boyden in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
