ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- The Loggers made the trip to Ellensburg for the 2025 CWU Wildcat Invitational on April 18–19, where 28 Puget Sound athletes competed against 11 other schools from across the Pacific Northwest. Battling a mix of DII, DIII, and NAIA programs, the Loggers brought home eight top-3 finishes and a string of personal bests in a strong showing at the mid-season meet.
The day opened with
Quinn Reublin-Geer setting the tone for the team, placing second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.47. In the women's 100-meter dash,
Victoria Bradshaw and Nevaeh Purnell-Bishop ran nearly stride-for-stride, finishing fourth and seventh, separated by just half a second. Bradshaw returned for the 200 meters (27.39), joined by teammate Sophia Rivas (28.23).
In the men's 100 meters,
Brogan Murphy and
Bryson Boyea-Quiton crossed nearly simultaneously in 11.14 and 11.19, earning sixth and seventh place, respectively. Murphy returned for the 200 meters and clocked 22.90. In the 800 meters,
Alana Lim ran a gutsy race, recording a personal best of 2:26.86.
Jason Cerda (2:03.20) and
Oliver Kreimer (2:06.12) held their own in the men's race, rounding out the mid-distance efforts.
The afternoon's premier division events saw some of the meet's standout performances.
Kyrstin Wilson blazed down the track in the women's 100 meters, placing third with a time of 11.79—the second-fastest mark in Division III this season. She added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters at 25.19. On the men's side,
Alex Rhodes continued his impressive season, taking third in the 100 meters with a new personal record of 10.62. In the 400 meters, Jacob Schaal ran a solid 52.87, just shy of his PR.
In the women's 400-meter hurdles,
Whitney Nelson earned a third-place finish with an impressive time of 1:10.46. For the men,
Mercer Stauch clocked 1:00.64 in a tight race.
In the field events, freshman
Thomas Goeglein continued to shine. He launched a personal-best 45.89 meters in the discus to finish third, and added another PR in the shot put at 14.64 meters, good for fourth place. In the men's long jump,
Brogan Murphy and Kai Tong both landed on the podium, placing second and third, respectively, behind Central Washington standout Isaiah Webster.
The Loggers' performances in Ellensburg showcased not only depth across events, but continued growth the squad. The team now sets its sights on the upcoming Northwest Conference Championships, where they'll look to convert this mid-season success into postseason results. The meet will take place April 26-27 at Lewis & Clark.
