Men's Tennis Dominantly Sweeps Spokane CC

| By:
TACOMA, Wash. — The Puget Sound men's tennis team sent its seniors off in style Sunday afternoon, delivering a commanding 7–0 sweep over Spokane at home.

Before the opening serve, the Loggers honored seniors Trent Beckman, Will Church, Carson Ward, Connor Blakeney, Matthew Merzbach, and David Lybeck. It didn't take long for that energy to carry onto the court.

Church and Beckman got the day rolling in doubles with a clinical 6–1 win over Spokane's Gouskie and Torres. Ward and Blakeney followed with a 6–0 victory and then Lybeck and Merzbach completed the sweep with a 6–0 shutout in the final doubles match.

From there, Puget Sound never let up.

Beckman made quick work of his opponent at No. 2 singles, not dropping a game in a 6–1, 6–0 win. Church mirrored that dominance at No. 1, beating Gouskie 6-2, 7-6, 7-5.

Blakeney (6–1, 6–0), Merzbach (6-0, 6-0), and Lybeck (6-1, 6-0) each had fantastic days, taking their matches with ease. Ward, playing at No. 2, dropped just two games in a 6–0, 6–2 rout.

It was the Loggers' most complete performance of the season and a fitting sendoff for a decorated senior class.

Next up, the Loggers take off to the eastern side of the state to face Whitman and Whitworth for the last competition of regular season.
