TACOMA, Wash. – May 21, 2025 – The University of Puget Sound will send three standout sprinters to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships later this month, as Lizzie Beiswanger, Alex Rhodes, and Kyrstin Wilson have all qualified to compete among the nation's elite.
Beiswanger, a sophomore from Santa Rosa, California, enters the national meet ranked No. 19 in the 400-meter dash after setting a school record of 55.17 seconds at the Azusa Pacific Franson Last Chance Meet. Her performance capped a breakout season in which she also claimed the Northwest Conference (NWC) title in the 400 meters and contributed to victories in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays at the conference championships.
Rhodes, a sophomore from Portland, Oregon, returns to the national stage as the reigning NCAA Division III indoor champion in the 400 meters. He enters the outdoor championships with a season-best time of 47.18 seconds, recorded during a heat-winning performance at the George Fox Last Chance Meet. He enters nationals ranked 4th. Rhodes also earned the USTFCCCA West Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year honor for his dominant indoor season, which included three of the four fastest 400-meter times in Division III history. Alex was recognized as the Ben Cheney award winner for Most Outstanding Athlete on a Men's team in the annual University of Puget Sound All Sports Celebration last month.
Wilson, a junior from Lafayette, California, will compete in the 100-meter dash after setting a school record of 11.75 seconds at the Franson Last Chance Meet. She also broke her own school record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.56 seconds, improving her national ranking to No. 36 in the 200m . At nationals Wilson is ranked 11th heading into the meet. Wilson's exceptional performances throughout the season earned her the NWC Outstanding Female Track Athlete of the Year award. Wilson was also recognized as the Alice Bond Most Outstanding Athlete on a Female team at last month's all sports celebration as well.
The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for May 22-24 and will be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Results will be available on the NCAA's official website.
