GENEVA, Ohio – May 23, 2025 – The University of Puget Sound track & field team wrapped up a challenging Day 2 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, with three Logger sprinters taking to the national stage at the SPIRE Institute.
Kyrstin Wilson, a junior from Lafayette, California, concluded a record-setting season by placing sixth in her 100-meter dash heat with a time of 12.10 seconds from lane five. Wilson, who entered the meet ranked 11th nationally, leaves the championships after a year in which she shattered several school records and earned NWC Outstanding Female Track Athlete of the Year honors. Her trajectory promises even greater accomplishments next season.
Lizzie Beiswanger, a sophomore from Santa Rosa, California, turned in a strong performance in the 400 meters, clocking 55.95 seconds from lane nine to finish fifth in the third heat. Beiswanger entered the meet as the 19th seed and placed 14th overall, continuing her breakout campaign that included a school record and a Northwest Conference title in the 400 meters. With two seasons remaining, she is poised to be a dominant force for the Loggers.
Reigning national indoor 400-meter champion Alex Rhodes, a sophomore from Portland, Oregon, saw his outdoor season end prematurely due to a season-long injury. Competing in the first heat of the men's 400 meters, Rhodes was disqualified, unable to overcome the setbacks he faced throughout the spring. Despite the disappointment, Rhodes' indoor season – highlighted by his USTFCCCA West Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year honor and national championship – remains a historic achievement for the Puget Sound program.
The NCAA Championships continue through Saturday.
