Parker Has Strong Showing on Second Day of ITAs

| By:
NEWBERG, Ore. -- The Loggers finished day two at the ITAs, with several solid matches and Ginger Parker reaching the Flight B Consolation semifinals.

How it Happened
The Loggers kicked off their day with singles matches, with two Loggers playing in the Main singles consolation bracket. Kaylee Yamada had her third long match of the weekend, facing Goerge Fox's Juhree Kizziar. After dropping the first set 5-7, she came back and won the second 6-3. A 1-10 tiebreak dashed her chances, but she played very well on the weekend. Frances English made it to the quarterfinals following an opponent DNF and a bye. She fought hard against Pacific's Tiara Yeung, forcing extra games in the first set, and dropping the second, eventually losing 5-7, 1-6.

In the Flight B consolation matches, Parker stole the show. She started her day against Linfield's Lilliana Cano, dominating the match 6-0, 6-2. She followed that up with an impressive 7-5, 6-3 win over Lewis & Clark's Gabrielle Garcia, advancing to the consolation semifinals. In other matches, Ella Norman, and Pearl Buck both battled in the B consolation round of 16. Norman dropped her match 2-6, 1-6, and Buck battled hard, losing in a tough tiebreak, 1-6, 7(7) - 6(3), 7-10.

In the doubles matches, Buck and Yamada played the overall No. 5 seeded duo Juliene Thompson and Renata Rosel Puga from Whitman. They put up a great fight, but eventually lost 5-8. Meredith Friess and Norman faced a familiar foe in the West doubles quarterfinals, as fellow Loggers Nicole Wilson and Frances English took the match 8-0. Parker and Zoe Richter also played late in the day, dropping their doubles match to Fox's Kizziar and Nicole Schnurbusch.
